I worked most of the weekend, doing a bunch of patching to old servers (Solaris 8 servers, if you must know). This is an older Unix operating system that really needs to be put to bed. It can take up to 4 or more hours to patch these puppies before they are even eligible for the Daylight Savings Time patches.
Anyhow, I started at 8am on Saturday, in Auburn, WA, drove up to Bellevue to assist a co-worker, and down to Kent to work on a couple of other servers. By the time I got out of Kent to drive to Tacoma, it was after 2am on Sunday morning.
Sunday morning I really wanted to go to the morning worship service at church, especially since I was doing the recording of the first service. So I got up at 6:30am, went to church, had a quick lunch, and started all over again. I got into Auburn at 12:15, went up to Bellevue, where I started the upgrade on one server at 1pm and had 3 other servers to do at 3pm, along with a Flash upgrade to the system boards & system controllers. My home base is Auburn, so that's where I check in first so I can collect my mileage.
After things were running pretty good in Bellevue, the rest I could do from home. I had a co-worker actually start the patch bundle on all 3 servers while I drove back home in Tacoma. By the time all was said and done, it was nearly 9:30pm on Sunday night, and needless to say I was getting a bit cranky.
I took today off as a flex day, (Monday) slept in past 9:30am, and took a long soak in a warm bath. But that didn't do the trick, my body was still pretty wacked out, and I was forgetting a lot of thinks (quite the space cadet, to say the least). I had been planning to go for a bike ride to get all the cobwebs out, and by the time I decided where to go, I thought "Point Defiance Park". It's about a 8 to 10 mile one way ride one way, and I also wanted to do the 5 mile loop within the park.
After going through a couple of hail and rain storms on the way, by the time I got to the park it was nice a sunny. I had a great ride. Stopped into the Antique Sandwich factory for a avacodo, tomoto & sprouts sandwich on dark rye bread. Mmm good! All told, by the time I got back to the house, I had ridden about 3 hours and 15 minutes. Quite a nice ride along the China Silk Road (my current route along the America on the Move website). Anyhow, I thought I better update this as I haven't written in a while.
